Phil Crabtree was appointed Chief Planning Officer at Leeds City Council in January 2007. He is responsible for one of the busiest planning services in the UK. The department determines over 8,000 applications a year, of which over 300 are major development proposals.
Between 1984 and 2006, Phil Crabtree worked at Birmingham City Council latterly as Assistant Director for Planning Control, responsible for planning applications and conservation. He played a lead role in the delivery of major projects such as Martineau Galleries, the Cube and City Centre Living.
Phil is a member of the RTPI’s Development Management Panel and the CIPFA Planning Technical Information Services Board. He is the founder and initial Chair of the Core Cities Planning Forum.
