Responsibilities
Alistair Parker heads Cushman & Wakefield’s Development Consultancy team. He is an acknowledged expert in retail led city and town centre regeneration schemes, in the UK and internationally. Alistair’s command of a combination of disciplines including investment, town planning, financial appraisal and urban design, is the principal reason for the recognition of the firm as a centre of expertise and market leader in retail led development.
Past Experience
Alistair Parker has been involved in many major shopping centre developments including Leicester’s the Shires (46,500m2), Woking’s Peacocks (35,300m2), Welwyn’s Howard Centre (29,000 m²), Wimbledon’s Centre Court (35,000m²) and Islington’s N1 Parkfield (13,600 m²).
He has considerable experience of feasibility studies, partner selection, negotiation of development agreements and anchor pre-leasing for Local Authorities. Past involvement for the public sector includes Banbury’s Castle Quay (18,600m²- 2000), Staines Two Rivers/Tilleys Lane (32,000m² - 2001), Basingstoke’s Festival Place (84,000m² - 2002) and Canterbury’s Whitefriars (40,000 m² - 2005).
Current
He is also much involved in the ‘Sustainable Communities’ programme being the advisor to Liverpool City Council/Liverpool Vision on the Grosvenor Paradise scheme in the city centre (234,000 m²) and to Sheffield City Council/Sheffield One in their partnership with Hammerson on the New Retail Quarter (105,000 m²). Other current involvements include the town centre schemes in Stockport, Macclesfield, Crawley and Preston.
Overseas, Alistair is providing advice to clients in Athens, Istanbul, Kiev and Prague. Past projects include Citystars (750,000 m²) in Cairo for GPP, Vasco de Gama (46,000m2) dockside regeneration in Lisbon for the public agency Expo ’98, ViaCatarina (11,500m2) in Porto for Sonae/ING and the downtown Souks restoration (100,000m2) in Beirut for the Lebanese government.
General
A graduate of Manchester University in Town Planning, Alistair Parker joined Healey & Baker in l980 and became a Partner in 1989. Alistair is married with two children and lives in Islington, London. He is a member of the BPF Development & Regeneration Committee, BCSC Conference/Urban Task Force committees and the ODPM ‘State of the Cities’ Advisory Group.
