Occupiers are reducing their space requirements, how will the markets respond?

Occupiers are increasing their occupational densities (desks / sq ft) and moving to ratio working (desk sharing). The result will be to dramatically reduced  “effective density”  and demand for space. Added to this, new technology will make old buildings much more usable as grade 1 offices.

  • How will the market deal with this excess of space?
  • Will landlords adopt more innovative strategies for their excess portfolios, like change of use or offices with central shared services?
