Roger Madelin
Chief Executive
Argent
| Roger had held senior positions with a national contractor and at an innovative commercial developer before the age of 26 when he met Michael and Peter Freeman (who founded Argent in 1981) in 1986. For the next ten years he took responsibility for delivering all Argent’s developments which included City of London offices, Thames Valley Park and Brindleyplace in Birmingham. Made Chief Executive in 1997, Roger has lead by example in a work hard/play hard culture, where trust, respect, reward and mutual support and mutual criticism override formality and sustain enthusiasm. In 2000 Argent commenced its development activities in Manchester where it is now one of the major City Centre players and was selected as developer of the 67 acres of land between and to the north of King’s cross and St Pancras Station. To help with Argent’s increasing development activities in Birmingham, Manchester and King’s Cross, Roger was delighted to be able to announce that from September 2006, he was to be joined by David Partridge, his colleague for almost 20 years, as Joint Chief Executive. Roger has been the Chair of The Government Advisory Panel on Mixed Use Development, he is a Director of London First and member of President’s Committee, he is an Honorary Fellow RIBA and Board Member of RIBA Trust. He was awarded a CBE ‘For Services to Sustainable Development’ in this year’s Honours List. |
